Question Most Miles Ridden a Day / Trip

I put on a few hundred miles or more in a couple of days exploring the DAKs here in NY. Fun time and the best way to see the area.

I was wondering how many miles in one day folks have ridden a KLR and in one trip. Just wondering. My limit is probably about 100 miles when I start to feel fatigued.

What do you all do to help with the long trips? Any mods to the bike help? I have music piped into my helmet which helps and a good pair of comfortable riding pants helps. Nothing added to the bike (08).

About 500 max if I actually want to enjoy the scenery and not over do it, especially on the KLR. That's 10 hours at 50mph on back roads. Add in breaks and time to stop and enjoy the scenic spots and it's a full day for sure. On average I max out around 300 if I don't stop much. As long as you take breaks, you can stretch the mileage quite a bit. Also, the roads play a big part for me. 100 or so miles of intercrap and I'm done on the KLR. Back roads allow more movement and flexing as you take turns, shift up and down and keeps your mind focused as well. Intercrap is mental boredom, you don't move around much and the wind just keeps you tense and wears you down.

most mileage

Street / canyon more than 400-500 miles in a day. 350 miles of good curves is perfect.

Dirt Riding...fairly new to dirt, biggest dirt day I have had was near 100 miles (8hrs ride time), with near 100 miles of pavement at the end.

375 on the KLR because I ran outta road. (That can happen in Alaska) One year I road from 60 miles east of Lincoln Nebraska to 25 miles west of Evanston Wyoming in one day. I did that riding a GS 750 leaving east of Lincoln at 7:00 AM and bedding down in the mountains at 11:45 PM. My odometer said that I had traveled 972 miles.

I should add that by the time I returned to my driveway in Cogan Station Pennsylvania I had ridden 10,777 miles. I was gone almost six weeks.

Most Miles In A Day

When I turned 50, I went on a trip from Raleigh to Memphis. It took two days to get there because of thunderstorms. On the return trip, I rode the entire way home in one day. 638 miles door to door. I had purchased a Corbin seat and it made that length of trip possible. (I would not recommend a trip that long on the stock seat). Even with the better (wider) seat, I had to take a week or two off from riding due to a sore butt.

When I first got my KLR, I left home around 6:30 for a 250 mile ride to SLO-KLR's. We wrenched on my bike all day and I rode the 250 home that night and got home around 11 as I recall. Long day.

400 is about the longest I've done on the KLR.. Rode from home to the National BMW rally in Lima, Oh on the KLR and left the BMW at home.. (gotta be different)... Lot of boring 65 mph roads, but not much interstate. Same thing a couple days later on the way back.

While I don't mind 300 mile days on the KLR, when I have the long haul to ride, I tend to gravitate towards the Wing.. Something about Cruise Control, comfy seat, and a MP3 player loaded with tunes seems to make the miles melt away.

The most I've done in one day was a little over 600. Had a bag across the top of the panniers I used as a back rest, corbin flat, and HT crash bars with highway pegs. It was a long day but was from sun up to sun down
