This forum is why I'm going with the KLR

Im new to this forum but I have been hanging around for a long time. This forum is why I'm going with the KLR. You guys have sold me. I like yamaha and honda for dirt bikes and even have had a kawasaki along time ago. So I was looking for a cheep bike and I saw this site and the klr. well now with my brother selling me his bike cheep i can sell it and get a newer bike. I have learned alot about the klr and even having to do the small fixes to the klr like the doo it still seems to be the top dog for dual sport bikes. in fact i just read a review between the BMW and the klr and it seems like the klr can't be beat. Thanks all for all the information. I just hope I don't have to wait long for the shadow to sell so I can get the klr. I was just looking at some new kaw dealers and they have the 2008 blue klr for $4300. Not bad so I just hope it all works out. talk to you later.

Thanks My wife does not know that I am not getting another harley lol. Wonder what she will think. She always likes to ride my bike, but she does not want to ride the shadow so I knew it was ok to sell it. She loved her eglide. she likes the radio and cruise. But she said she did not want to ride for along time so she does not care what I do. this is good for me but I will miss my riding partner. She is a speed demon tho. But she is busy with her crafts so It's all good.

Well almost had a trade for a 2009 klr. But it was a no go. I might have bike sold this weekend. My fingers are crossed. The dealers still have some 09 klr's so they are saying 4,500 so all I can do is wait. I just hope it's not to long.

You'll get it man. And then you can tell us all about it. Welcome aboard.

Bigv,
welcome to the forum. I lurked here for a long time before I decided to buy a KLR but the folks here helped me decide. You will be very happy with the bike and the people here. I too ride dirt bikes- none Kawasaki. The bike is great and I have no regrets.
For what its worth, I might suggest taking a look at used bikes. I bought new and sort of wish I didn't. After buying mine, I saw bunches of used bikes with next to no miles and all of the luggage, crash bars, and other goodies that I wanted to start saving for- but for lots less money. There are a lot of folks out there that do more upgrading than riding.
Keep an eye out for tech days in your area- you'll learn a lot about the bike.
Good luck with the purchase!

I'll have to admit that this is a better forum than what is available for the XR650L. The only remotely decent one is a sub-forum of ThumperTalk, and since they've "improved" it, it's pretty difficult to use. I guess it's about as good as the KLR forum over there.

Kawasaki Land Rover,,,,,,

I think you will like the big trail bike,I raced MX locally for a number of years, and the KLR was the choice for me.The Honda XL650 was too tall, seat was rock hard,air-cooled,no rack on the back,it is a great desert race bike though.and what is up with suzuki routing the front brake line over the top of the instrument cluster?Thats just plain silly.Again,DRZ,rock hard seat, air cooled, not much of a rack on back,so enter THE BIG TRAIL BIKE!!!!!!I cant remember if yamaha makes 650 duel sport???Not sure.I got over 22,500+ plus from new on my 06",3 flat back tires, oil changes, and a headlamp bulb, brake pads, are the only things that I have had to do to it in 4 years!KAWASAKI LAND ROVER!!!!!!!

I'm the guy who got the green 08. And I love it. I'm glad I listened to you guys I was going to get new but one of you said get used with all the goodies added. Well that's what I did. It's loaded and low miles. And I save over a grand from new. It was hard tho. I don't buy many used thing because I'm scared about the owner not taking care of the item. Thanks all.

Welome!

Don't worry about the previous owner, we can help you with that. It sounds like with all the "goodies added" he was a good owner. But, if you still have a contac number, I would ask him what he has done to the bike, other than "goodies". And NOW WE NEED PICTURES!!!
