New front brake lever assy, handlebars,How much?

Just wondering if anybody knows how much these cost, from kawi or otherwise.Need to replace, had a mishap on the roads, guy nailed me as I sat in my left turn lane ,he cut his corner and wasnt even looking forward as he was coming through the intersection, and I had 3 seconds to jump off bike,so I did,I strained my right calf musle when I landed in the next lane,as I did that I heard the SMASH of his full size truck hit MR KLR,it was not a pretty sound!I'm OK,other than the calf musle. If I had stayed on the bike I probably would have been seriously injured,or worse. So I feel lucky today, for some strange reason.Whats really funny about it is,the KLR got some road rash,a bit,Ill have to make a new headlamp cover,a few scratches, wheels were fine,it was funny when we wheeled the bike off the tow truck,I checked all the vitals of the bike and EVERYTHING on the bike worked perfect!!!!I could have rode it home! What an awsome bike!!!!!!!

The MotionPro 14-0315 is a direct brake lever replacement.

Is the guy paying for your repairs?? If so forget the stock bars and buy some ProTaper bars.

I would get the Pro Taper bars anyway no matter who is paying. They are likely cheaper than what the dealer will charge and you've got a better bar.

protaper bars

yes I did look into the protaper bars, and they are on order as we speak. And a new lever for front brake,it also needs a new front fork on the right side,Bummer.Any used sets anybody knows of?There are no aftermarket for the forks,so they say?Not sure on that one. So,it will be a project for sure, not too difficult to do,not sure if the new fork will come with oil in it or not.it comes pre-assembled,you would think it would.Anyway thanks for the tip!

What are you doing trying to scrounge up used bits?

Why aren't you going after this guys insurance? Any damage no matter how slight needs to be paid for. Make the insurance company pay for all of it, get a lawyer if you have to.

Not to dis on you but it doesn't sound like you know much about bikes. Take the bike to a good shop to inspect the damage. Have them write up the repair estimate and give that to his insurance company.

I have been around bikes for 30+ years,I'm shopping for all options at this point,I know about submitting info to his insurance co And I've already contacted my lawer yesterday about this matter. And I have already had a estimate done for repairs at a KAWSAKI dealer yesterday, all that you have mentioned,I did yesterday. This incident only happened yesterday morning,so I've made good progress on it in only 24 hrs or so.

Could you post up a few pictures of this damage? I'm having trouble visualizing this crash. Was the bike standing upright when hit by the F-250? If it was laying down, the damage does not seem consistent with what the pickup should / could have done.

And if you have an estimate from yesterday, what are you asking of us?

I dont have pics of damage yet,yes the bike was upright when hit,by the time he hit the bike,I had jumped off to my right side,he was making a left turn from the cross st that I was at ,waiting to make my left turn, he was coming tword me from my right side,I was stopped waiting for the light to cycle,so that I could make my left turn. He simply cut his left turn into my left turn lane, too sharp, wasnt looking where he was going,I saw him coming at me,had about 3 seconds to either gas it and run risk of hitting what may have been in the intersection at the moment,or jump off and let the bike go,I jumped. All I'm trying to do here is collect Ideas,And info on what may be out there as far as getting alternatives from buying from dealerships,The only reason I said anything about Used stuff is that maybe someone on this site may have some that they may want to get rid of.Who knows?

Didn't mean to insult you but can you see how we got the wrong impression?

1st you said the bike was fine except for the brake lever and some rash. Then you say the fork is bent. You're shopping for used parts. Seemed to me you didn't take the normal steps as far as getting quotes, contacting insurance, etc. So there you go...

Glad you are taking the insurance route hope you get full compensation.

BTW your posts are hard to read because you're not putting a space after punctuation marks, kinda makes it all run together sorta, like, this!
