Problem:

I placed order number 1694827 for $202 with the company, and the order status became "On Order" on 8/14/2010. Payment was provided at the time of the order and a review of my bank statements shows that they have my money. There has been no communication from Cheap Cycle Parts regarding the status of my order for the past two weeks, in spite of two e-mails from me seeking information regarding that status. This afternoon (8/30/2010), I called their customer service line at 866-842-0086 and was on hold for an hour and 15 minutes, and then the call was dropped, apparently because their customer service hours were over. I called back and received a recorded message that they were now closed and to call back during normal business hours. Their website states that most items will ship within 3-5 days and, understanding the nature of their business, I waited 10 days before first asking for status. That was in the first unanswered e-mail. Their website also states that they will provide a status e-mail if, after 10 days, an order has not shipped. Obviously, I have not received any such e-mail. They are currently claiming that they are having technical difficulties with both their computer systems and their telephone systems, but it seems that these issues have gone on far longer than any reasonable person could be expected to believe such problems could exist. Cheap Cycle Parts is currently posting pictures and comments from the MotoGP. Perhaps, if they are having such difficulties, they should devote less time to attending the MotoGP and more time working on their problems and servicing customer issues.

Been hearing more and more bad things about CCP.. Reminds me of the old days, when you couldn't trust Competition Accesories with anything except ripping you off..

The went under and were brought back to life, and I'm hearing good things about them.. Maybe a rebirth is in order for CCP? (after Tom get's his money/parts)..

Yes, saving a couple of dollars is not worth this grief. In truth, I think I am saving about $20 on this order.

My past dealing with them was OK. I ordered and in about 5 days they said my stuff was shipped, and three days later I had it. Not the fastest in the world, but good prices on stuff that I couldn't get from the local brick and mortar (and I'm a big fan of the brick and mortar - the local motorcycle shop gets a lot of my business).

I can understand a vendor having difficulties, but all it takes (at least for me) is a note saying "We know you ordered some stuff. We're having problems. We don't know when your stuff will go out. If you want to cancel your order, we understand. If you're OK with us not knowing right now, we sure appreciate your understanding and your business".

The order is not critical - I'm not sitting in Skagway, stranded in the freezing cold with no muffler bearing because of them. It's just some new protective gear and a fender.

But don't give me a total stiff-arm treatment.

I'll keep you posted.

Tom

I received this response through the BBB:

"Customer Service works on emails for two hours every morning before the phones turn on. Considering our phones have been non stop busy due to the technical issues from the beginning of the month till mid month, we are going to receive a lot of email questions as well. I show a customer service representative has finally gotten to one of this customers email request for order status and one item did have to be reordered. So, she has reordered the KNEE GLIDER expedited. Which should get that to the customer within four to five business days and the remaining items she has added to the work director, that will tell the warehouse to pick and ship the order. This customer will receive two separate packages to complete the order and all items should be delivered to him within the next four to five business days. I have personally refunded the customer's ($9.99) shipping cost due to the delay.

We have several different departments here at cheapcycleparts.com and the representatives that deal with our FACEBOOK and MARKETING pages are completely different than the ones that are trained technicians to assist us with the website programming and technical issues. We did not spare any representatives of importance to assist us with the problems we are currently catching up on for such events like MotoGP. "

And this response from CCP:

I apologize but your knee gliders have not come in They have been ordered from the manufacture and are on there way.
I can get the rest of your order out today and on its way to you and make sure the other part is expedited from us to you.
Once again I apologize for the delay and thank you for your patience.

My order has been 'On Order' for two weeks.
Is there a problem?
Can you give me a status?
Thanks.

They did, indeed, refund my shipping charges. They are going to ship the order in two shipments on their nickel. I applaud them for that concession and consider the matter closed.
