Cooling fan problem solved

Finally had the time today to dig into my cooling fan issue (was not turning on). I ordered a fan from a Ninja 500 and was ready to swap it out. I figured it to be the fan as I could hear the relay pick when I grounded the sensor wire.

Long story short, it was not a bad fan. I had no battery going to the connector for the fan harness although the fuses were good and the relay worked. After investigation I dicovered that one of the hot white wires going to the fan relay connector was not hot. I found a spot in my wiring harness (directly above the horn) where a bolt had rubbed through the protective tape and severed the other hot white wire. I'm very lucky this short didnt cause other issues. I fixed that break and re-taped everything up (away from the bolt) and all is well.

So, if anyone local to the SF Bay Area needs a fan motor let me know.

Thanks,

Matt
