Advice for New KLR Owner?

Greetings Everyone,
I am the owner of a new 2009 KLR 650. Anybody got any advice concerning maintenance or common problems please let me know. Thanks and take care.

Welcome.

First thing you should do is review the Owner's Manual.

Next you can go through the bike tightening up screws and bolts.

Thereafter consider doing the Doohickey.

Searching this site will give you a wealth of info that has already been said.

I would check the oil first thing every morning before you ride.Keep it slightly above the top of the sight glass when the bike is level.
Keep the air cleaner clean ( if you ride on lots of gravel)
Other then that just ride it . Mine is a 2008 and I have spent 0 dollars on anything other the gas and oil and a battery .The bike has 22000 km's on it and sounds and runs the same as when it was new. Iam a very happy owner.

what process of breaking it in are you using?

Right now the bike has about 65 miles on it. I was planning on following the owner's manual recommendations. Something like no more than 4k rpm's until around 600 miles, no more than 6k rpm until 1000 miles. Any other suggestions?
