Talking Today I made the Switch !

After many days and hours of looking, reading and viewing this site and many others I took the step today and brought home a used 2000 KLR 650. I hoping it will be an interesting trip coming from the Touring World (Golwing 1800) and the Cusier World (VTX 1800) and now the Dual Sport World. I think I am headed backwards since most guys start at the Dual Sport and end up on the touring sofa in the later years. Oh well I am excited to see how this goes!

Welcome, and oddly enough, there's several of us here that are riding both a KLR and a Wing..

This upcoming summer, I'm torn on which bike I'm headed West with..

Welcome! I went from dirt to sport bikes and then back to dirt. I just got a KLR650 myself and am having a blast. I can go explore just about anywhere now. All those little dirt side roads I used to blow by at 100mph on my street bike I can go check out.

Not so odd then. I went dirt, sport, cruiser, and then dual-sport. Looking now to add a "naked" liter bike, something along the lines of a Z-1000 or a Super Duke.

Gray-haired riders don’t get that way from pure luck.

Welcome aboard. I picked up a KLR last fall myself. I also ride an 1800 'Wing.

You're going to enjoy the adventure!

Welcome from Michigan.

Being from Idaho you'll certainly have no shortage of excellent riding for your new mount.
As others have said, post up pics when you can!

I have ridden wings since 1978 and currently have an 02. I bought a KLR this fall and have enjoyed it, but have no intention of getting rid of the wing. I have no desire to ride
the KLR for more than about 50 miles on the road. More than that and I will ride the wing, or put the KLR on a trailer. It is well trained, It jumps right on the trailer with no complaints.
