KICKSTARTER KIT (except clutch basket) $150

Friend was parting out his '86 klr engine because the top end crapped out. He ended up converting the whole bike to electric anyway so the engine is just sitting. I know a lot of people on here want a kickstarter so I grabbed the parts to sell for him

Everything's here except the clutch basket, so you'll need to find a '96 or earlier basket and swap it in. Everything else is here, though - primary gears, idler gear with spacers and circlip, guide and stopper with bolts, kickstarter shaft with everything on it, kick lever (action is snappy and tight) as well as a new oil seal for the clutch cover.

Looking for $150 plus $15 shipping anywhere in the US!

I think I have met that man who is "pretty in pink". ha ha. He likes to have spare parts tucked away in his shed. Occasionally he will donate or sell a few of them.

Coincidentally, Spike613 got in contact with me the other day. He is the fella who figured that it might be possible to modify a KX500 guide to work in the KLR. I got one, I did, and it can and I'm using one on my bike. He had never done the mod to the KX500 guide and had just now gotten around to trying to buy one. Turns out they've gone obsolete, just like the KLR600 one did.

It looks like another guide might be usable, the 13206-009. These are obsolete, too, but there are some on e-bay. I bought one to see what it is all about. It will be here Monday.

This kit will stay intact and be installed on my cherry, low mileage, red and white 1991 Tengai.

Now all I need to complete the project is a cherry, low mileage, red and white 1991 Tengai.

So I'm gonna' cross my fingers that neither of the kick-start guide plates in my obsolete '87 KLR650 or my '89 KX500 ever break.

I thought about it . . . . . that is until I priced a new Kick Start Clutch Basket and couldn't find any used ones anywhere on-line. But knowing Tom he probably has two or three laying around somewhere.

They can be had for under $50, and aren't as rare as you may think. There's 3-4 on ebay right now
