Hi Deke, and welcome ot the forum!

Riding across the states on a Montesa must have been a hoot.

Tom,
Thanks, Yea the ride was different-It was similiar to riding a singer sewing machine for 3000 miles-Although I was with 2 other Spanish bikes,Bultaco and Ossa. It was called the Spanish Odyssey and had a back up van with us to carry oil etc.
Regards,
Deke

Egad, the things we did when we were kids.

I had a CB350 that I rode all over the place, all the time. It was my only transportation. Wind, rain, snow, cold, hot. Three quarter helmet, Levi's and a Levi jacket. No gloves. No windscreen, no bags, just a backpack.

It was nothing to decide, at 10pm, to ride from Central CA to Southern Ca on a whim. Threw some choners in the back pack and wrapped two hot dogs in foil and stuck them on the engine and headed off.

Somehow I don't remember ever being miserable.

Ate a lot of bugs, with that big grin and all....

good luck with that kind of mileage each day. 500 a day is more than enough. after that fatigue will start to set in and it can become dangerous. i did a 6000 mile trip last year, hit 20 states in 21 days. would have gotten 21 but there was a fire. anyway i live in southern nm right off of i-10 if anyone needs a place to crash. i have a couch, small garage and a decent sized backyard.
