replying to these via "post quick reply" has not been working for me. I'll try "Go advanced" this time.

Welcome Dan, what kind of work where you looking to have done? That RENJ course is very good for new riders, glad you are taking it. The KLR is a great machine.

hey tom

well, first off, I want to have someone give it a thorough check up..make sure everything is doing what its supposed to. I just got it a few days ago and I wanna have the oil changed and maybe replace the spark plug(s) My bro was an auto mechanic for 10 or so years. He and a friend who's been working on his own bike for years are gonna help me with that today, but I've been reading about replacing the doohickey. Everyone seems to recommend it. I guess Eagle Mike's is the way to go. Aside from that, I want to get a new seat at some point. I'm thinking a corbin Low saddle for long trips. Also, maybe get a new exhaust. I'm gonna wait to and hear how it sounds after I get some work done though. Seems like I'd be better off with a mechanic that knows the klr and its unique issues/ potential mods. You may have read in one of my posts that I am useless when it comes to all things mechanical. I would like to, despite this lifelong inadequacy, find some sort of moto repair/ maintenance course. You know any? i think learning how to do at least minor stuff is important, and could enhance the overall experience of owning and riding.
Thanks for getting back to me.
dan

Welcome to the forum! I love riding up by west Milford, Jefferson, and vernon. Great curving back roads.

Hey all, newbie from Newton, NJ here. Getting my new 09 big blue KLR in a week, can't wait! I'm trading up from a KLX 250S. Anyone check out the Delaware National Park area specifically the Walpack area? I've been riding around there for the past few weeks and it's a nice ride.
