Talking Lake Placid Ride

Planning an overnight trip to Lake Placid for Friday 9/11-9/12. Nothing set in stone, just get up and go. Would like to ride up the East side of the daks and down the West (http://www.mapquest.com/mq/2-J5YybRvI). Weather permitting, planning on camping.

Anyone wanting to join the ride are welcome. Also any route ideas or suggested stops would be great.

Oh, how I wish I still lived up there. I would highly recommend heading towards Paul Smiths to explore some of the back roads around the college. It's been a while since I was there but they used to be dirt and broken pavement. I'd hate to think they've all been fresh paved so that the city folks can get their Navigators, Excursions and Armadas in there.

In particular I'd love to know the condition of Kushaqua Mud pond rd out past Rainbow lake just NE of campus. Just don't get lost out there, take a GPS.

Thanks for the suggestion. Iíve never been to the Paul Smiths area. It doesnít appear to be much off our route.

Went to college there when it was still a two year school. Man I feel old. LOL I would also suggest while in Placid to ride up Old Military rd to Bear Cub for an awsome view of Gothic Mnt. You'll also be able to get a nice view of the olympic ski jump off 73 and see John Browns Grave ("Old JB may he rot in his grave" they say.)
