Looking for some rally's for 2019

Im dead center Iowa. I load up on the ultra and like to break out for a few long weekends and until recently alway hit Sturgis for a week. I want to find some options for tripping out with my KLR and get away from the interstate long haul stuff. Enjoying the backroads more & more.

Maybe something in the AMA Dual Sport Series? The Wisconsin ride maybe. These are usually primo events. I'm heading to Perry Mountain next month for the first in the series.

The AMA Beta sponsored series sounds more than a little advanced for the average Sturgis Rally attendee. So the KTM AMA Adventure series will possibly be a better 1st time off-highway oriented event.

Check it out,

Not really looking for an off road event. We're off on the verbiage I guess.
More of a ride in, camping, socializing, and hear some good bands kind of thing.
"Average Sturgis attendee" never heard it put quite like that. It is a hell of a party though

I kinda' tried to differentiate between what I feel the difference is between OFF-Road in the AMA Beta sponsored series for real serious dirt bikers with a license plate and the OFF-Highway group in the AMA KTM sponsored Adventure series.

One can see in the video clip of the KTM Adventure series that this group of riders will mostly ride the Scenic un-paved backroads and lesser travelled paved highways to get to the next un-paved route.
One can either follow the leaders or ride your own ride for the day, but never exit from a group with-out telling several others that you are exiting & returning to base camp. Always keep track of the rider Behind you!

The breakfast & dinner camaraderie and evening socializing is a bonus to the riding in my book.

I may have been one of the 1st years attendees to the Buffalo Chip Campground! 1983 was the 1st & only year that I have attended the Sturgis Rally, so far. I've still got 2 fairly clean t-shirts & bandanas from vendors in town.
Nothing like the old "Buck Showers" to wake one up at 7 AM after music & beer til 3AM.
Everyone should do lots of things, at least once!

Ive hit the chip a dozen times over the years. I get my concert fix there. Always meant to go to the hill climbs just never seemed to make it.
My fast trail days are in the bucket. I had to ride my ultra, fully loaded , through a creek to get out of camp last time. Rain all the time. Anyway, haven's rode off much since I was a pup. I do like my klr and I bought it as a camping bike that can get me back off the beaten path. Actually it will likely be my do all unless I'm doing big mileage for extended distances.
