The supplier is providing a free Bike Master tube as a replacement. And that is fine, but at worst my front tire maybe trash as well, not to mention the expense of changing out the old tube, tire removal, balancing, etc. The worst part was being stranded 30 miles from home at night. Yea, I had the advance notice, so I guess I should have not ridden the bike with the tube. Since there was no way to tell if I had one of the suspect tubes I took a gamble...also see the note below.
MEFO acknowledges they had some tubes that failed, " The manufacturer did inform us that they had seen some tube failures from a batch of tubes made several years ago, but there is no way to determine whether any of the tubes we've sold were derived from that batch." So there was no way to know for sure other than go to a different tube.
PAPER: I had heard such good things about MEFO tires that I figured their tubes would be as equally good, so I wanted to match MEFO tubes with MEFO tires. And the MEFO tubes were advertised to be a thicker rubber / heavy duty.
ANYWAY, my intention was just to let everyone know that there are some bad tubes out there, not to bash MEFO in any way. I LOVE the MEFO tires.
