I'm with Maverik: I'm okay with them as long as I see them first, but if they come out of nowhere, I temporarily freak out to the point where in that situation it could possibly be dangerous. Another reason to wear full gear all the time, I guess. I think that would help if a snake crawled up over my handlebars: wouldn't feel quite so "exposed" to it.
When I was in the Army we had this little publication called "Flight Facts" or something along those lines that detailed the causes of helicopter incidents, accidents and crashes.
I remember one story recalled a training flight at Fort Rucker, Alabama where a large snake came crawling out from under the dash, mid-flight, basically right into the pilots' laps and since they both didn't like snakes they admitted they nearly lost control of the aircraft before they were able to come to their senses and came up with the courage to grab the thing and throw it in the back.

WOW!!! I'm afraid I would've freaked! I don't know what it is about snakes, but when they show up unannounced, I tend to do a funny little dance. And it would'nt get me on 'Dancing with the Stars'. It would, however, land me on 'AFV'... Good thing you kept your head in the ride.

|armedmissouri||Regardless of the fact that the snake is harmless, it would definitely freak you out.|

This could be unnerving at a high speed:
