planalp I use a can of starter fluid to kill the sparrows I catch in a trap to keep them from invading my Purple Martin (birds) colony. I flush them from the trap into a trash bag then spray some starter fluid in and it kills them pretty much instantaneously.

Sometimes they won't flutter into the clear trash bag I hold over one end and I have to reach in and grab them. When I do that, I usually wind up with both the bird and a handful of their used nesting material I'd used as bait.

One day (I was probably drunk) I got the birds in the trash bag, sprayed in a copious amount of lighter fluid, tied the bag shut and dropped it on the ground. While I was messing around getting the trap shut back up and re-baited, I set my lit cigarette on the trap platform.

The cigarette rolled off the platform and fell on the bag, instantly burning through it and igniting the dry nest material and lighter fluid.

Remember the scene in Christmas Vacation where Uncle Lewis sets the Christmas tree on fire with his stogie? That's about the closest thing I can compare it to: just a whooshing flash of fire that singed most of the hair off my legs.

Paper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_K...ss_destruction

So it's not Atomic issues?? It's Ether?? I didn't know they were that broke!!!

Spanky A mechanically challenged Staff Sgt in my command in Japan.. decided that a more direct shot of ether was what the cold generator set needed for starting. He cracked the hand valve open and turned to the PFC at the starter switch...the generator turned a few times and backfired once igniting the ether coming out of the bottle! The last I saw of that bottle of ether...it was accelerating up and over the sea of Japan towards Korea!

Bigdog57 In my younger days I worked one summer for U-haul, as their 'Small Engine' guy. I serviced and repaired the mowers, saws, and other "GRI" - General Rental Items. I once got royally chewed out and written up by the danged regional repair manager, for using Starting Fluid to troubleshoot a particularly reluctant chainsaw. What made me mad was, he had ordered and sent me the starting fluid!
I left shortly after that.

Paper I needed a bottle of that yesterday.. The old BMW's choke spring disconnected on one side, so one was in full fuel dump and the other side was normal..

It'd start for a second and then fall on it's face..

Fixed it with a pair of "Where's that damned spring" pliars.

I had a diesel Cadillac back in my younger days. Biggest piece of crap I've ever owned in my life.
