Aron31 Just got rid of the stock petcock myself. Just got a little rubber plug to block off the port on the carb. Went with a Yamaha raptor 660 petcock. Works great and it was only like $20. Only difference is the length of the standard fuel pipe. Which means you will have less of a reserve tank. But if you pay attention to your fuel milage it should not be an issue.

Here's the complete 411 :

Petcock Upgrade

You do need to cover the vacuum port on the carb. There is no reason to lose vacuum to the petcock while running. The guts of the petcock may be crapping out or the vacuum hose might be crimped or collapsed, but it's unlikely that the vacuum went away.

fuel petcocks

so was rideing while ago,,bike acted up an shut off... after stopping for just a bit ,,pulled choke an started up????
this happened couple times one day..weeks go by no problems... then again!!!
shortly after that was running an came to sudden stop,,come to figure out vacuum hose came off petcock!!!! refastened hose,,no problem started up!!
but then again couple days later same thing ,will be running fine plenty of fuel ,then acts like out of gas, ,,,come to stop a min choke an will restart ????????

QUESTION;:
1 if switch to non-vacuum petcock is there any issues--like blocking/covering hole on carb---besides haveing to cut fuel off when not running!!!
2 is there any reason for loss of vacuum while running?????
