Odd not having a clutch. You have to be smooth on the throttle at slow speed. Can be jumpy if your not. But shifting in surprisingly smooth. And I have to say after driving different bikes over the last 20 years including cruisers, one of which was a 04 Wide glide, and the 07 R1 (favorite so far) this bike seems to be the best of both worlds. Just wish it was off rode capable. But can't have everything in one bike. Will have to see how my wife reacts if I ever show up with another Klr and keep the fjr.

Seriously, how do you do that? "Honey, I'm going down to the bike shop and get this vibration fixed on the KLR", and then ride back on an FJR.

I tried that ...... once. Had been driving an old S-10 beater, pulled into the Chevy dealer and two hours later drove out with a new Z-71. Mrs. Flash was not as excited as me, I had no idea her red hair could get redder. That day I put to the test the saying, " It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission".
When I pulled up she walked out with a questioning look. Smiled then came and sat on the back. Not what I had expected. Later she tells me, at first she thought I had a loner. Best part! now she is considering riding with me again. I had an R1 in Germany prior to coming to Fort Polk and getting the Klr. Neither are very good pillion. Also understand your frustration being a ginger myself!

jediwannabe Wont be doing as much off pavement now!. But long distance cruising should be good. Its a 2007 that was still new. Dealer had at it since late 2006. Came with original warranty. I got it with no miles They could not sell in this area for what ever reason. Its a AE. Only put 200 miles on it now but so far I like it. Got it for 6000 out the door plus KLR
