justjeff I was Up by 7 this morn to get ready for a 50k quad ride in the bush. From my house to Spencer Lake and back. The ankle was pretty tender but after several hours on the Quad it has loosened up! There is so little good riding weather here you have to take advantage of it, even if it means riding "hurt"!! I just got back 1/2 hr ago that tells you how extreme 50k of trails can be up here. We were on the trail by 9am this morn.

650Stew How are you feeling today? When I was younger I would just jump up and say "I meant to do that!", but now that I'm in my mid 40's the aches and pains seem to linger forever... Lol

justjeff Thanks Guys!
The panniers are fine Slowpoke! They are the AdventureSpec Magadan saddlebags of Colbach fame. Tough as nails. All the stuff is on the ground because I was digging out tools.
The Zombie Apocolypse is on the way Stew. The Zombie hunters are having a training session this weekend an hour north of Regina Sask. That is no BS, it was on the news Friday. I wouldn't want to be mistaken for a Zombie there this weekend!!

650Stew Ouch! Sounds like a pretty good tumble! Glad to hear that you didn't get to banged up and you managed to get the bike back home under it's own steam . Your field repair of the petcock is very impressive! When the zombie apocalypse rolls around I want you on my team!

Glad to hear you made it through that one okay with no serious carcass damage, justjeff. Your field-expedient repair skills are certainly impressive. How many people would think of whittling two plugs from a tree branch?

Sorry it happened, but thanks for sharing the tale, man.

Slowpoke Hi justjeff - glad you are ok - are you going to be able to repair those panniers ?

So did you limp into the machine shop and start milling up a fuel petcock left boot angled crash guard, anodized?

terry_1956 Glad your okay Jeff. Blame it on that free power mod.

justjeff Thanks Cabrito!
I hate sand and mud and gravel....Crap! Why did I buy a KLR anyway!!?? I fondly remember the riding skills I used to have!!
This is just part of the adventure, I would much rather have a small wreck off road than in the City with the traffic!

Cabrito Holy Crap Jeff! Take it easy out there.
Glad you is okay. The bike can be fixed.

Probably going to hurt worse tomorrow or the next day..

Great trail side repair.

justjeff Thanks Scrapper! This type of spill is common on sand, but what are the chances my boot would hook the fuel lever and pull it apart in the middle of nowhere?
If I couldn't get the petcock to seal, I was going to plug it off and use the vent hoses to syphon fuel down to the carb. Try THAT on a fuel injected BMW Dakar/Serato!
