MacG I'm not far from your area rockman(Northeast Ga.) and that price is high for the bike you described. It's good that you noticed the gasket showing work has been done. Like garthw said, the owner not knowing what had been done would be one more reason for me to walk away. There are better deals on nicer bikes if you just look around a while.

Man. KLRs do not sell for that cheap around here. Here's a 2003 with 10K miles for $3700. 2001 with 13K miles for $3500... more like that.

Lucky13 My 2cents! I was looking at alot of different years. All seem to hold there value well.i went with the 2013 because it wasent that much price difference between new and few years older. As long as you get one you did the right thing!

rockman I'm in the North GA area. I think you're right, I've saw some much better bikes for a similar price. I'm sure I can find nicer for that money. I'll just have to wait and or travel a bit. I do appreciate the feedback.

Dan Diego Unsure where you are, but 2004s are going fairly cheaply (is that redundant or what?) in the SD area.

Unless that 2004 is PERFECT, I would suggest that you hold out for another one or travel a bit and get your price.

To buy or not to buy 2004 KLR 650

I am looking @ a 2004 kl 650, 16,234 miles. Owner wants 2300, I think I can get it for 2100, but I'd like o be @ 1800 or less, owner refuses to budge. It has full T4 exhaust, oversized front rotor. the rest is stock. The right front of the tank has a large dent, been dropped on a rock it appears. There appears to be all new gaskets around the head and on both sides of the motor, why would this be @ 16k miles. The owner doesn't know what happened, but the gaskets are all green, they're not stock. Any advise would be grateful!
