RF_R_US Back in from multiple jetting checks on the GPZ, ugh, too bad I like this stuff ;-) Yes, I'm pretty sure the Left Hand Canyon area is where I first road, off-road a few weeks ago. That's where they used to shoot guns and started a fire last year right? I took a picture of my bike next to the new "no shooting" sign complete with bullet holes :-) Thanks for the inputs, I'll look into them later tonight. I have to get the GPZ running right with the new Jardine pipe.

I was in the hills just outside of Central City, I started up by St Marys Glacier and rode into Central City. You are very close to Left Hand Canyon OHV area have you been there?

Colorado Backroads & 4-wheeldrive trails, is good reading as well and has a few pretty cool places listed. Most have been outta reach due to snow. There are a few old mines listed near Georgetown I want to check out next. The St Marys area and the Rampart area have tons of trails that will work until the higher peaks are open. I really look forward to Red Cone Pass and the trails between Buena Vista and Gunnison when it warms up a bit. Still too much snow at higher elevations just yet.

RF_R_US Where can I determine what trails you were on? Any advice on a good trial guide for Colorado?

NoBull Tom the trails were mostly dry. Just a few areas where the sun doesnt shine still have snow. The area is big and has a bunch to see, according to the trail rating thread I would say most were 2.5 to 3. The routes up to Kingston pass were still too snowy. I look forward to returning to investigate more of the area.

We played in snowy mud, and in some muddy snow.

CheapBassTurd If you drained the oil, it's all good. Or, mostly good.
Just some residual water/ condensation that needs to get cooked off
over a few rides. Sounds like you stopped the engine and uprighted
before any damage was done. The sight glass should clear right up.
(little by little) It has to get up to full temp to start steaming and
turning the h20 to vapor and pushed out of the breather tube..

Interesting ride huh?

My KLR wont swim

Yea thats right my KLR wouldnt swim instead it laid down. I was having a great day riding some trails that had very recently been covered in snow. Some still were, deep too but thats a different story. I came across a friggin lake covering the road, I figured how deep could it be? I can do it, well at least halfway anyway when I hit an underwater obstruction and we went down. Quickly standing back up and uprighting the bike, thats about when I realized the water now filling my boots was pretty dang cold. I rolled her out of the lake. I opened the airbox and removed water, dried the filter, opened the drain for the inner and outer airbox. Tried and tried to start her with no luck. Decided I better start pushing, so I pushed a mile or so with pauses to try again to start her, wasnt happening. Finally with choke on she would start but wouldnt rev, and wouldnt run without the choke. I let her sit there at idle for awhile, before she would finally run. I checked the sight glass and all looked good, so onward I went. When I got home I noticed the sight glass was white, so I drained the oil. Didnt look like any water in oil. Sight glass still white. So what else should I do to make sure I dont have muddy water anywhere it doesnt belong? I cleaned and lubed the chain and lubed cables as well.
