|Zonechamp||I have a prostate issue and I just can't sit on my KLR for long periods. I have a custom seat on my Triumph that is cut out in just the right spots to allow me to ride farther. I do have the Seat Concepts Commuter on the KLR, but it's just not quite right for long haul. If I did use my KLR I would have to modify that seat as well, not to mention going to a 16T sprocket.|

Did you complete your 1000 last year in less than 24 hours or did you use most of your 36 hour allotment?
I once rode a '74 Z1 900 about a 1030 miles in about 16 & 1/2 hrs. The hardest miles were from the 450-550 mark.
The second day I completed 1 lap of Wyoming, about 1711 miles with one 127 mile section ridden twice. (once out, once back to my town)

|Zonechamp||I am thinking of doing the 1000 out of Medicine Hat. Looks like a good time, but I don't think I'll be taking the KLR. I'll use my R3 for that run.|

|klr4evr||The time limit is 12 hours for the 500 and 36 hours for the 1000 which includes a 12 hour break overnight. I would probably be more comfortable on the Goldwing but I really want to do this on the KLR. I've got an aftermarket seat which should be a benefit. My brother is riding with me but he's thinking he'll ride his Honda CBF1000 versus the KLR. We don't have any bike coms but I may just plug the ear buds into the iPod.|

|frostbitevinnie||I did not see a time limit. I assume 24 hrs? I have done two SS 1000, one on the bandit and one on the wee, in 15 hrs. Trick is to keep moving at a reasonable pace, stay hydrated, and make sure your bike is comfy. A sore azz can be a real pain! If you have a riding partner bike coms are really nice! Or just have one for the radio.|

Cannonball 500 - Alberta
Entered myself in the Alberta Cannonball 500. Intend to ride this on my KLR. Have done the distance before but never with a time limit involved. Putting the challenge out to other Alberta and Canadian riders to get involved. Maybe next year I'll try the 1000.
