Thanks Jason! I actually went with the low miles! I already ordered and installed the SW-motech crashbars. I ordered some bar risers but for some reason the wiring was way to short for them, I even took the gas tank off to see if they had a spot that would give some but they didnt. I ordered a ricochet skid plate but it didnt work with the crash bars and also the hand guards. Haha but I can return them so we'll see if I can get it right the second time. Thanks for the help!

thanks Toney, I was actually considering this, but since I had a certain amount that I could spend (and it was less than the price of a new one) I couldn't afford a new one. And certain circumstances made it less than ideal to start a new loan. Thanks for the advice though! I wish I could have done that!

I agree. Since Kawasaki stopped making them in 2018, you can always get your money back if you resell a low mileage bike. You can always pick your own extras and add them when you like.

Toney Why don't you just go buy a new one? Take the funds you have and drop them down on a new bike that comes with a warranty that nobody has screwed with. You'll have a bike that you know has no issues. One that was never ran low on oil or ridden hard and put up wet. See what kind of payment you can get on a new one. It might be less than the repair costs you'll encounter with a used bike.

What should I buy?

Good day to all here on the greatest forum to bless the internet....

So, I am looking into getting a new-to-me KLR and am kind of torn on what I should buy.
I am trying to shoot for a 2011 or newer. I have found a couple 2011 that are within my price range with fairly low miles (between 6500 and 1200) but then there are some newer models (mostly a couple 2014s) that come with a whole lot of extras but have a lot more miles (around 30,000). The main extras that I am looking for are protection, doohickey (that's still recommended for the newer models, correct?), windscreen, and probably some pegs. But mostly just protection and doohickey. So, I suppose I just want some insight on what you all would do/recommend. I also get kind of weird when it comes to people working on their own bikes.. but that's just me.. Thanks for your time guys!
