|Dicky||The issue is not just the ride, so is simplicity, if it falls I don't cry, if it gets damaged, I repair it. I feel free from extreme problems. In case of an accident I will not worry about the money I could lose for the motorcycle. In addition, I love being able to share with others and do the same (almost) that my colleagues with motorcycles twice as expensive. Many times it is not the arrow, it is the Indian. I'm here to have fun, not to mortify myself. As simple as that.|

|Dicky||To not complicate my life, I do not try any motorcycle. This despite the fact that several friends insist that I try their 1200 or 800 GS. I always refuse. I don't want to lose the taste of my dear KLR. The day I decide to change it, then I will do tests with other motorcycles. So far I am happy in mine.|

|Dread||I test rode one of these. Probably the nicest bike I have ever ridden - and I'm on my 7th owned one. If I had the cash, I would get one. Fortunately for me, my budget precludes that!|

Not ME! I will never take the 790, not even as a LOANER. I think the TEMPTATION would KILL me. If not ME, then my WALLET.
When I got my RT I think it was my LAST bike purchase.

Hey, guys: DO NOT (upper-case letters used for emphasis, no offense intended anyone offended by use of all-capital letters in a communication ) test-ride a 790!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even . . . don't test-ride a 690. Look what happened to ME!!!!!!!!!!!
Then . . . I made the serious mistake of test-riding a 1290 SA . . . ALAS! (see above for justification of capital letters).
Recently, after riding the 1290 around extensively, I switched back to the 690. I then thought, "What's the matter with this thing? Is it BROKEN (see previous parenthetical comments)? It has no POWER (ibid.)!!!!!!!!!!!" (Of course, the 690 DID (you know) have plenty of power, just . . . not in comparison to the 1290.)
So, back to the 790. If the, "thundering hoofbeats of yesteryear" (exciting bursts of power; apologies to The Lone Ranger radio program announcer) speak to you, then . . . you may be LOST! (ibid.)
Haven't researched the 790 twin fully, specification-wise, myself yet, but . . . if the new bike has a 180-degree crankshaft (as do Ninjas), then . . . expect a sure, steady diet of torque from idle to redline (if a redline even exists). Constant crankcase air volume (no oil-filled airbox reservoirs) . . . I could go on, but . . . you've been WARNED! (same comment as above).

nice bike and so far, the twin I would buy.....but it's still too heavy for me. While it may be within 25lbs of a stock Gen2 KLR, it's still 60-70 lbs heavier than my modded Gen1's and that's more than I'm willing to deal with. 400 lbs, wet, full tank of fuel is my "line in the sand"....which precludes all current twins and possibly all future ones as well.

From the ADV review, Part 1:
"Parallel twins have a bad reputation for being boring, for sounding cheap, and for underperforming. KTM did dial down the output on the 790 Adventure a bit, when compared to the 790 Duke. It has more emphasis on low-end torque; max output is 65 lb-ft of torque @ 6,600 rpm, building strength through the bottom of the rev range. However, peak horsepower is down to 94 hp @ 8,000 rpm."
Down to 94hp? Are you ****ing kidding me?
"KTM claims both machines have a 417-lb dry weight, and unofficially, we understand the wet weight is at 450 lbs. That’s barely more than a fuelled-up KLR650, just for the sake of reference, which came in around 430 lb wet. Claimed wet weight on the BMW F850 GS Adventure is around 500 lbs, as is the Honda Africa Twin."
