I know some people run 100LL full time in a variety of engines but I'm not a proponent of doing that. Lastly, here in California, we absolutely Cannot find Ethanol Free fuel anywhere. Pretty sad so many people are forced to deal with and pay for some of the worst fuel in our Nation...
I hear you, at the time I thought I stumbled upon a free supply of as much 100LL as I wanted! it was fun for a few months and then all my toys started crapping out and I knew what the culprit was right away.

I don't know what the hell is going on out there in California, I love the place but dam that sucks you can't find any ethanol free gas anywhere. I went to flight school out in San Diego and used to race Glen Helen from time to time.

Im back home in New York, and im sure that'll be the case here too. Might be Time to move.

My carb is in pieces right now waiting for my new jet kit to arrive so I can ride my KLR once again. So....... Yes, I took off every single hose that was not needed AND also all the bits and pieces relating to all those hoses. My machine runs very good.... FWIW, I mix my pump gas with aviation 100LL with about 20% AvGas to 80% premium pump gas. The AvGas acts as a stabilizer but it does contain Lead. Do I care? NOT at all.....

I only did it because I had a problem twice because of something I did.
Part of the issue some people have with the stock vacuum petcock is the ethanol fuel causing the rubber diaphragm to break down and pieces of it entering the carb and causing plugged jets. Your solution does not eliminate the potential for diaphragm break up. I use the factory set up and have only had one failure in over 300k miles on 3 klrs.

evil_cyclist Removing the Secondary AIR system also removes all deceleration backfires.

I never said I was offended, I only made a suggestion.

I think GWN & T.S. finished answering your questions sufficiently, yes?

But we humans tend to get lazy about turning fuel taps OFF & there is no overflow pipe inside the USA model KLR CVK carburetor float bowls to indicate a leaky float needle before it floods the engine.
I believe that partially flooded engines & hydraulic locking of the piston could be responsible for some of the broken piston ring lands that we have all seen on the internet sites.

Now, about that link, could you re-post it in the Off-Topic Lounge? I'm curious and I probably haven't see it.
