ramsb I carry carry so I can draw from any angle. Have been doing it for over 20 years and no problems. If you need to have it in plain sight you are part of ther problem. I don't have to prove that I am one of the big dogs.

You're kidding right? You do know that not even another buzzard will eat a buzzard? Hit one with my truck mirror and took me a couple of weeks to get the foul smelling crap off the side of my truck.

werdkat That would have to be mounted on my left. I'd like to be able to keep in the gas if need be. I now see my next purchase!!

If the coyotes are as thick as they are around here, you need one of these.

German hack rig with mounted MG42 machine gun. In my opinion, one of the most classic firearms ever produced. 1200 rounds a minute. That's 20 rounds a second. May be outclassed by today's multi-barrelled miniguns, but pretty impressive for a single-barrelled machine gun. The venerable US Army M60 machine gun was modeled after the MG42 with a slower 600 rpm fire rate to alleviate the problem of frequent barrel changes and the copious amounts of ammo that had to be carried along with it. The high rate of fire was actually an Achilles' Heel as the Allies quickly figured out that the time to advance on and take out an MG42 was when the gunners had to stop and swap barrels. Remember the scene in "Saving Private Ryan" when they took out the machine gun nest at the base of the radar tower?

Obscure trivia fact: the large "guns" carried by the Stormtroopers in Star Wars were modified MG42 machine guns.

Thus ends my machine gun tutorial and distraction from this thread for the day.

LOL I have been throwing around the idea of coming up with a way to carry one of my Ruger Mini Ranch Rifles or my 12-guage "riot gun" on the KLR: kind of a scabbard rather than a hard case.

I see they sell a military nylon MOLLE shotgun scabbard and I was thinking about mounting one on my eBay rear side panel guards. I think one of those might work for both the shotgun and the Ranch Rifles.

I always carry some type of firearm with me when riding. A few weeks ago, I came across a huge turkey buzzard flopping around in the middle of the road with an obviously broken wing. I don't know if it got hit by a car while feeding on something in the road or what.
