hey guys, I've had two klrs now, an 03 which had about 10,000 mi. and now a 06 with 6200 mi. I haven't had any trouble with either. I was wondering what I will notice first when the doohickey goes. I hope to catch it before it causes major damage. Is there a mileage mark that is consistant with the break, does it matter how hard you ride. How hard is it to fix? This is a great forum and I read it often and appreciate the info . Thanks

You may not ever notice a symptom, and then again, you may notice more vibration and noise in the engine and at worst a catastrophic failer due to the metal pieces in the oil and engine. My buddy has an 05, we changed his at a lil over 4000 miles and his spring was broke. This site will show the procedure. It is actually quite easy about a two hour job taking your time. Get your doohickey at or at Well worth the time and investment to have peace of mind. If you do a search of my posts you should see the pic of my buddies broken spring. My 07 was ok when I changed it, but now I don't worry about the what if's with my upgrade.
