Branch Fell….

I was heading out for some lunch today and a branch fell from a tree and hit me on the Helmet. I was going about 40-45. The branch was about as big around as a permanent marker and about 3 feet long…. I did not get hurt at all but man the BANG that rang threw my helmet scared the CRAP out of me. I rode for the next ¼ of a mile looking backwards to see what the heck just happened…. What are the chances THAT branch falls right as I am going under on my bike???? How bazaar!!!!!

No kidding, what are the chances? I've been hit by a falling walnut before, but never a branch.

Just in case you need some:

I have seen trees fall on cars and people getting hurt and I am like WHAT are the chances that car was there just then??? How dose that happen??? This little branch has had 30 years to fall to the ground. Yet it has waited until I am under it….?
I wander if there is some scientific theory here? In regards to relativity, nothing moves in our universe with out moving something in turn. So when I ride at 40mph, I move a small amount of air. The air I move, moves more air, this more air moves the leaves on the tree, the leaves move the branch, the moving branch knocks loose the branch that falls. This falling branch is 10 feet in front of me causing my forward movement to intersect with the gravitational pull downward placed upon the branch causing an unavoidable collision…… WOOOOW, I need a beer.

Maybe… Just maybe… “Im not moving” and the rest of the earth is???? I have always thought that the world revolved around me, but I never consumed the idea that if the world stopped spinning right this moment, everything around me would fall in a clockwise direction and I would unaffected….. HAAAAA

Yeah, you do need a beer, Crazy Jake. The thing that set this whole chain of events into motion was mostly likely just a butterfly flapping its wings thousands of miles away. Or, maybe everybody in China actually did jump up and down at the same time and that's what it was.

I think you're over-analyzing things here. Remember, it's usually something simple.

Will do. I'm big enough to create a pretty good shock wave that should help.

Saw a navy guy catch a HUGE branch to the dome on base one time. I think he was OK, but it was nuts. I was just a kid, but I remember thinking the same thing...What the hell. My mom caught a florida pine cone (still green) to the head from about 30' up. Knocked her silly.

And just the other day I was thinking, how come we don't get hit with MORE birdshit. Birds have got me a few times in my life, but given how many of them are up there, what gives?

Glad you're OK.

Emm, no, that's Chaos Theory, not relativity.

Have a beer now and someday we'll get together and I'll buy ya one...
