I've been a fan of Samsung stuff for quite a while.. Seems everything I buy that says Samsung just won't die.. I'm waiting for my monitor to go belly up so I can get a LCD unit, but my Samsung monitor has outlived 2 pc's...
Anyway, I have a Samsung 420 camera. I love the thing.. They're available on eBay for around $100 or so, and some of the lesser models can be had for $50 or so.. My girfriend has a Samsung 301 that she uses for work and the thing takes great pics and has seen the ground more times than some people's shoes..
The other thing I like about these cameras is that they use a pair of AA batteries.. I use lithium batteries that run $2 a pc at Wally World, but they last so long that I forget when I last replace them, and I take a lot of pictures.. I tend to get 3-4 months worth out of a set of batteries, and will have a few thousand pictures taken during that time, as I use the camera for both work and play..
Anyway, just a thought that you might want to look into Samsung cameras.. Good value, picture quality, and durability.. They're no DSLR, but they you're not paying for one, either..
