Long story short:
I've got two friends, they are a couple, they live in Talkeetna, AK in the summer, He is flying his airplane up there in March and she doesn't want to make the trip by herself so they asked me if I would like to drive up there with her over spring break.
Who could pass up an adventure like that. So I bought a plane ticket from Anchorage to Detroit and am going to leave my truck at a friends in Flint. The logistics of leaving my car near detroit is blowing my mind but I saved $300 on my ticket. But thats neither here nor there
We've got a well maintained vehicle, spare starter, belt, and alternator. Good spare, packed for survival, etc...
Anyway I think we are going to travel to make time. I'm pretty sure our route is fixed when we get to Canada, Calgary to Edmonton to the ALCAN then to Tok (where I'm going to stop at Fast Eddie's) and then to Anchorage and Talkeetna. The only thing that isn't decided is how to get to Calgary or Edmonton.
I've got friends that live in Missoula, MT. That would take us directly South of Calgary and we would have kept a large western portion of our chunk on the super slab and in the US. But there is a nice road that makes a B-line from North Dakota to Edmonton.
Has anyone taken this trip? Anyone heard any good route advice?
Finally. Any good roadtrip music suggestions? This is gonna be a long one.
