"Like" Thing

What's the deal with the "Like" thing in all the posts now? What is it for and what does it do?

I have not a clue. Exactly what 'Like' is about. Sort of a 'Facebook' thing I'd guess.

If I like a thread or started a thread, I check the number of views, occasionally.
That gives me a clue as to how many people are interested in that thread.

I'll even write a post-it note. For instance, "Oil Pressure, How Much Ya' got?"
Had 25,871 views on Dec. 31 2014, I wrote it down. It has been awhile since I checked, but I think it was over 32,000 after the 'Oil Filter Cavity Mod".
You can check it.

Maybe 'like' will keep a more accurate count of actual individuals , if we use it?
Instead of each visit by the same individuals?

Yup, they are putting a like button in but it's not working yet... The tech's are trying to get it fixed. I think it will be handy, sort of a direct recognition thing for the author of a post. I know there are lots of post's that I like, but I don't really have a pertinent comment so the like button would come in handy

It seems to me like a teenager touchie-feelie sort of thing. So, don't be upset if I don't press your like button.
