Windows 10

I see I have an option to reserve a free upgrade to Windows 10. Is anybody else in the same boat planning on upgrading to it? I've currently got Windows 7 on this computer. I like Windows 7. I liked Windows XP. I even liked Windows Vista. I have Windows 8 on my telescope computer laptop and hate it so I'm kind of leery. I haven't met a single person who approves of Windows 8.

I read if you don't like 10 you can "roll back" to what you had, but computer pundits say that's most likely a bad idea and won't work as you expect, recommending a full backup before you do it.

Maybe I'll try it on the Windows 8 laptop first and see what I think of it.

I got the same little message. I signed up but haven't decided about it yet. I just figured don't look a gift horse in the mouth. I expect soon enough we'll see some reviews and get the word from friends whether it's more similar to 7 or 8, though I expect it will be like 7.

I love Window's 7 as well and hate 8. Strangely enough, my son likes 8... And we don't even have a touchscreen monitor on his computer.

I'm going to go for the free upgrade as well I think... Supposedly it will be kind of like 7 and 8 combined? It's going to be a universal platform as well and will be the same OS used on Window's tablets and phones, just scaled for screen size.

On a side note, I tried a Windows phone running Window's 8.1 just for shits and giggles and I really liked it! Ended up going back to Android of course, but I was pretty impressed with Window's phone.

I guess I'll at least "reserve my copy."

I reserved a copy.
I have Windows 7. I liked 7, Vista, and XP as well. 2000, NT, 98 and 95 were ok. WinME sucked. I haven't used Windows 8.

My coworker has a tech demo of Windows 10 running as a VM on his Windows 7 desktop.
He hates Windows 8, but thinks 10 is pretty good. He said said it's like Windows 7 and Windows 8 had a baby and called it Windows 10. He's reserved a full copy of 10.

I am running Windows 8.1 with some improvements that make it easier to use. I will put Windows 10 on some of my computers at first. This one that I am currently using will be the last to be upgraded.

I did the Windows 10 upgrade today on my primary computer. I haven't used it enough to make any comments on it but the download and upgrade went quite smoothly and was quicker than I thought it would be. I had to re-do my AVG protection when I was done but that was no big deal, either.

Did you get that "Get Windows 10 Upgrade" app on your task bar?

When I went looking for how to get Windows 10 the short story was "wait for the app to show up".

There was a troubleshooting thing for "what to do if you don't have the app", but all it said was make sure you have the latest updates and make sure you don't have an inactivated or ineligible copy of Windows 8.1.

Best I can figure is that the latest update hasn't been pushed to me, as my verison is eligible for upgrade.

Cool, I'm still just getting the "hurry up and wait message" from the notification. I heard they are rolling it out in waves though due to the high demand. So far I haven't heard anything bad at all about it so fingers crossed it's a good upgrade!
