Floatin' down the river

Last weekend we participated in an organized float down the river. We've never done such a thing so we all had some anxiety going into it. My wife signed us up for it even though she is not a big fan of boats and dirty water.
It was a 10 mile float and took us 4.5 hours. It was well organized event that had food, drinks and a bus waiting for us at the end of the day. They said 101 people signed up for it.
About mile 8 our daughter told my wife "this is impossible". About that same time our son told me "why did mom sign us up for such torture".
It definitely was a challenge for us newbs. But at the end of day, it was a fun time!

If you have ADD, here is the intro video I made.

If you can handle watching a few minutes longer then this one is for you.

That looks like a lot of fun!
Did those people on the stand up paddle boards do the entire trip as well?

Good stuff, Savage. It's always nice being on the water, even if it's dirty Midwest water. At least you didn't have any snakes crawl up into your canoe..........

Savage,
Kids, now'a days just don't Know How to Add the "Fun" to such a trip!

Be the last boat/slow-moving raft to Start, and try to be the First to Finish!!!

Be the first to Start and the last to finish, due to "horse-play" along the way!!

10 miles is a long way to go when there's not much of a current and it didn't look like there was. I would imagine the next day you were acutely aware of muscles you never even knew you had. Paddling is not a natural motion; especially when repeated thousands of times.

10 miles was a lot for us newbs! They said it was a nice relaxed float, not a race, but we pretty much paddled the whole time. I wasn't really sore the next day or 2, but my back was tired that evening.
The guy on the paddle board did the full float as well. That or a kayak looks like the way to go next year.
