For you anglers....

My Dad is visiting and I took him to my 'secret' bass lake (he lives in PA and fishes trout mainly). I have caught some 7 lbers in this lake, but usually a four lb fish is a win. My Dad was fishing a bluegill jig and catching some nice gills. Caught one and a big bass chased it (we had been watching this bass all morning and it was watching us back). Took three passes at the hooked bluegill and then inhaled it. Somehow the tiny jig transferred and I watched my Dad land a 28" 10 lber on the tiniest jig you ever seen. Beat that.

Congrats. Great fish and great story. It's always the 10lb'r that you fish for with the right tackle, line and lures that's solidly hooked and then gets away......

Nice try...

I made my Dad swear he'd never tell. Can't have a bunch of people fishing my lake. But if you're ever out this way I'll take ya fishing. May have to blindfold you for the car ride...

Okay, I'll give it a try.

I saw this guy swimming around in front of us just seconds after our "last cast". I told my husband that I wanted the pretty beat up lure and that I was going to hook a sardine on the end for good measure and that I was going to go get that fish in the water.

My husband chuckled at me but complied and put the "pretty" lure on and then I hooked a sardine on the end.
As I was walking away he mumbled under his breath just loud enough for me to hear him, "you'll never catch anything on that"!

When I made the cast the sardine went flying off the hook and landed in the water behind me. Again, my husband was amused.

With that same cast, I did manage to plunk the lure in the water in front of me and....

Tadaaaaaaaaa!

Here's the lure...

We didn't have a net so my husband had to take this one out with his bare hands and land it just right on the dock. Then he told me to close my eyes...

Catching anything in this river is sort of rare I guess and what we didn't realize is that people had lined up on the bridge just above us and when my husband finally got the fish out of the water and landed it on the dock...they all started clapping and cheering.

I still say my best catch is my husband.

Where's that lake again? I must have missed that post.

OH and....we like bass too. We may have information to trade!

Hehe....we call this a sardine!

Here's what I'm talkin' about!

Better still........

And...even better....

Hugs,

~Swish~

Thanks, and wow!

Thanks everybody. I'll send this link to my Dad, he'll be stoked. And, Swish, damn those are some nice looking fish!

Went fishing yesterday and caught a decent bluegill and an 8 inch bass. Yeah, my arm is pretty sore.

Damn straight.

You got that right, BigIron. One of my favorite kinds of fishing. Maybe favorite if I had to pick one.
