This is probably old news for most here but since I'm new to Kawasaki & the KLR I found it cool.
I've been a BMW rider for 10 years now, covering over 100K miles on 2 different BMW's in that time.
I've also wanted a duel sport bike but wanted something different then a BMW for this bike. I saw the KLR Rondel on a used bike that was for sale at my local Kawasaki dealer a few months ago and loved it. I found a place online that sold them in different colors so I just had to get one in green. I posted this pic on Facebook as a "dig" to all my BMW brothers & sisters out there and also wanted to share it with my "new" KLR brothers & sisters here.

I put in on the rear fender

In 2010/11 I compared the BMW 650 Dakar and the KLR650 with a mind to buying one or the other. I found they were essentially the same bike. Sure the BMW had injection and better horse power but the KLR was simpler and had just as good reputation re mechanical failures and quality. They both weighed about the same and required about the same mods(like seat and suspension) for long distance driving. It came down to price for me. KLR at $6500 or the BMW at $10000. I chose the KLR and don't regret it one bit!!

Jeff, That was my same thinking. Altho I've loved both of my BMW's and will always have a BMW in the garage I didn't want to spend almost double the price plus Farkles for a "dirt" bike. Plus I too like how simple the KLR is compared to BMW.

I've had one of those KLR rondel stickers since they came out. Still looks great years later.
