It is amazing how many people don't get this. Sure stop using fossil fuels because it is damaging some things. See how many people live through the first winter!

Freezing to death in the DARK remains the consequence of abandoning, "fossil fuels."

One might hope intelligent husbanding of natural resources for power generation emerges as a possibility, NOW.

Wind and solar power remain economically unsustainable, without government subsidies. Not even a drop of ethanol fuel would exist, without taxpayer support.

Prediction: Keystone Pipeline, even the Dakota pipeline, will be completed. Electricity from coal-fired power plants will continue charging Tesla batteries, as electric car owners celebrate the false, but "feel good" and self-righteous concept, their vehicles are "green" and non-polluting . . .

Wow! You should read the news from MY area. All coal fired power plants in Alberta are to be shut down by 2020. A $20 per ton tax to be imposed on all carbon producing fuels starting Jan 1 2017. The natives are vowing to blockade any pipeline construction and force the oil companies to keep the tarsand (Fort McMurray) oil in the ground because it could be spilled and contaminate fresh water supplies......What we have is the vocal minorities running the country.
JJ

I won't have any trouble getting oil or gas when the world grinds to a halt.....There is a pipeline running right through my property!

Yep, perfectly said. The funny part about it is how many fossil fuels were burned to make those wonderful "green" cars. I live near the enormous Tesla facility outside of Reno (10 million square feet under roof). The power required to run that plant is crazy, and only a small fraction of it comes from solar.

We, so called, sentient beings do not actually have to do anything in this regard. Nature has a wonderful and proven way of dealing with resource imbalances. Rest assured that the "hydrocarbon" question will be resolved in what some would call the near future. Perhaps not in a way to everyone's liking, but resolved none the less.
