So what your saying is all the convenience stores in the area will have little bundles of the old Red Wood as souvenirs?
That means they are going to slice it up like a salami or something?
I'll never look at a tooth pick quite the same.

no, since it's in a state park, it will be left there to rot away over the decades.

Heard about this earlier today. That's sad. I hope they put that lumber to good use and some hippie organization doesn't make them bury, or some such nonsense. I'd rather see it preserved as coat racks and picture frames then to see it just rot away.

Always thought about riding to Cali to visit a bud I've got it there , and stopping to see the tree, too. That's what we get for stalling, huh?

I'm sure you're correct but people would buy it. I'm sure the state could use the cash. Seems a shame to let it rot.

I have a piece of the Dyerville Giant which fell in '91. A friend picked it up while on a vacation and brought it home. He used it to make a base to mount a 3" tall hand carved Pronghorn he had made. The chunk of wood looks like an escarpment with grass and brush sticking up. An amazing piece of miniature artwork. It came to me when my friend passed away a few years ago and is a cherished memorial of him.
