Total Solar Eclipse. Don't miss it.

A total solar eclipse will cross the US on August 21st. I have a trip panned to camp on the Cherohala Skyway in Tennessee at Indian Boundary campground. It's a state park. Costs are only 20 bucks a night. We're staying a week. Still some spots left there and there's good riding in the area. The eclipse will come almost over the campground nut we'll ride up the mountain someplace. We have a few says there before it happens to find the best spot. Looks like it may be at the NC / TN state line.

This could be really cool. I hope there's no rain or cloud cover but even if there is, it's still something to witness.

You'll want to be someplace without streetlights and need special glasses.

If you're in the path of this, it will get totally dark in the middle of the day. The closer to the center-line you get the longer it will last.

The hotels/motels and probably the camp grounds near Casper WY are near fully booked.
Casper is near center-line of path.

About 45 North of Lander WY is the small town of Pavillion WY. Just to the SE of it, is Ocean Lake, almost center of projected path. Campgrounds on lake shore.
Would be a good time to own a boat.

Maybe I'll take the day off?

I've had my spot picked out for a long time but they don't take reservations until 6 months in advance. We had to set a reminder in our phones and we booked it as soon as the website would let us. It's not that far from home for us so I'll ride down and find the best spot to watch it in advance. I'll bet the campground will be packed. I still have to order glasses.

Thanks a lot for the heads up in advance! I'll try to make the best of the opportunity. Never had the chance to witness a total eclipse like that before.

campout

We will very likely have clear skies here in Idaho. Great views from the mountains, taking off from work, it's going to be a once in a lifetime event.
