Great dogs! I've had several over the years. Lots of folks initially want them because they've heard that they're very smart, which is true. But then these same folks discover that they don't want a pet that is quite THAT smart. Either you give a Border Collie a job to do (daily), or they'll find one on their own . . . . and you probably won't like their choice!

I had one that picked out what she wanted to watch on YouTube. No lie. I'd hover the mouse and when it went over what she wanted to watch, she'd bark, so I'd click it. She had a thing for horses. She also had her favorite TV shows. Goldrush and Mantracker. She liked the dog on Goldrush and the horses on Mantracker. We lost our two Border Collies two weeks apart. Sucked. Now we have a mix. She came from East Tennesse Border Collie Rescue. Her names Boo. Get's my shoes for me and puts her toys away at bedtime. Goes everywhere with me. Doesn't need a leash. Walks right past other dogs in Home Depot without even a sniff unkess I tell her "it's ok". These people at ETBCR get dogs that were at the pounds or people turn them in. Great dogs but need someone who has experience with dogs. They're great dogs if you know what they need and are able to keep them entertained mentally.

PS: Wife says same thing about me.

Saw a man with a dog in his car at the bank parking lot.

I asked, "Is that a sheep dog?"

"That's a border collie," he replied.

I said, "Don't know if I'd want a dog who's smarter than I am!"

'No doubt about it, she rules the household," he responded.
