HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Well it was a clear and warm 46F on Sunday afternoon Dec. 30 2018.
16F and 6 inches of fresh snow on the ground by 5 PM on Monday Dec, 31 2018, New Years Eve.

Today it was a clear & sunny minus 19.9F at about 8:00 AM! Welcome 2019 to Wonderful Wyoming!

Did anyone seen the wind chill numbers from yesterday in Wyo. Was a frigid -63F wind chill in Rock River, WY!

How was your weather today? Who got to go for a New Years Day KLR ride at what temp? please note C or F temps.

The morning started off at 37*F with a high of 61 for the Rose Parade. It’s now 56.

Wicked cold. My flip flops are cold to step into to take the trash out. There was frost on my car.

Should be good for my apricot crop, though. Had a bumper crop of tangerines and it is looking like a 5-batch year for kumquat marmalade.

No KLR riding for me today. 20 degrees F with snow and salt on the roads in South West UT. Going down to 2 degrees F tonight. I think I will get the snowmobile out and ride that this week!

I got out for rides on Thanksgiving and Christmas, but not New Year's. High was 17F yesterday. Too cold for me. Plus, for some reason I still can't figure out, it looks like they put a rather liberal application of salt on the roads on New Year's Eve. When I first ventured out yesterday, it was so thick I thought at first it was frost.

We're supposed to have riding weather with highs in the upper 40's here in a couple of days, but since there's no rain in the forecast I'll have to wait until all the car tires pickup/disperse the salt as I don't like getting it into nooks and crannies where it can set off (cue dramatic music then Vincent Price voice saying "The Insidious Process Of Corrosion.")

Well this thread did not see much activity this year. But the year is not over yet.

Lander, WY went from 65F ish last week to 45F on Saturday with bare, dry ground, to 0.5F on Monday morning with 6 inches of snow on the ground, to -13.5F this Wednesday morning, Oct. 30 2019.
(Most of the snow came Saturday night/Sunday morning.)

And California is burning up, again. I hope all of our CA forum members stay safe.

Its present 66 in Upstate NY. This is about 20 degrees above normal. It was a great day to ride the bike to work. Its been in the 40s and 50s for the past few weeks, and raining.

I took off from La Guardia airport in NY the other day where it was about 60 degrees, get my ass kicked flying through a cold front and landed in Cincinnati with an airplane covered in ICE....... It was at the moment that I knew winter had started for me. Im back home in Long Island, NY. Its in the 40's. Still looking for reasons to fire up the pig (03 KLR). Ive got a thermobob so cold weather aint going to hurt her anymore. Im putting on log johns about to go for a ride anywhere. Maybe I need groceries.

Please do not lecture me on the effects of temperature and density altitude on an internal combustion engine -Thank you.

I'll bet that that cold front turned the 'pucker factor' up to 10 and probably 11 when you stepped out of the plane.

Just got back from a few days riding in NorCal. Temps ranged from 40 to 80 F. In California, like other places, we have weather that involves sun, fog, clouds, wind, rain, snow, and hail. We have another element to weather, which is fire.

We rode pretty deep into the Kincade fire area, right up until we ran into a flagman who asked "How did you guys get on this road? It's closed. Go home." Trees were still smoldering, homeowners and farm owners were standing about surveying the burned ruins of their houses, barns, and outbuildings. The cattle seemed fine. We saw a few houses standing, untouched, in the midst of burned-out areas. We saw burns that went right up to the edge of vineyards; it was obvious that a great deal of effort had gone into saving them. Thousands of blackened acres and small plots of saved greenery. Telephone poles hanging from the wiring because the bottoms were burnt off. Trees blackened to 15 feet above the ground.
