More on Phillip Marlowe's Plymouth business coupe windshield sticker (from Sarah Sundin):

Stickers and Coupons
The American public learned to deal with an elaborate system. Every motorist was issued a windshield sticker displaying a letter. Some of these categories changed, emerged, or were eliminated during the war:

A: most motorists – 3 gallons/week, reduced to 2 gal/wk March 22, 1944
B: for war workers who shared rides with 3 or more passengers – 8 gal/wk
C: essential occupational use, such as physicians, clergy, and mail carriers
D: motorcycles
E: emergency vehicles such as ambulances, police, fire – unlimited
R: non-highway use, such as farm vehicles – unlimited
T: truckers, instituted January 1, 1944 – unlimited
X: a controversial sticker for VIPs – unlimited

No, nothing ‘in general’ about that. Absolute favorite.

She aged into a most handsome woman, as well, rivaled only by Dame Diana Rigg.

No better or more colorful a romance ever existed as that of Bogie and Bacall.

Disagree; them’s fightin’ words.

Today’s ride, 37*F and steady rain into Sierra Vista, AZ. I shall never ride again without a bit of Blanton’s in the bag for post-ride relaxation.

I nominate Damocles to guest co-host Noir Alley alongside Eddie Muller. The main reason I like watching noir in that venue is all the interesting information Eddie provides both before and after the movie. Interesting trivia/info Damocles!

I got home too late last night and noticed I'd just missed The Big Sleep on TCM. Like any sensible person, even though I've seen it probably at least a dozen times I still would have watched it again had I been able to. Unfortunately, it's one you have to pay for on Amazon Prime. Not that I wouldn't pay to watch it again, but free is better.

I'm honored by the compliment, planalp!

If I get the Noir Alley job, maybe benefits include a discount on the TCM wines!

From, "Pitfall," Cinemoi last night:

Lizabeth Scott models a dress at her stalker's gunpoint.

I first saw this flick when I was about 12 years old; didn't understand a lot at that tender age, but . . . I remembered: This drama appeared most PLAUSIBLE, how an otherwise "American dream" "normal," or "average" husband and father got himself involved in a situation 'way over his head.

Has a cool speedboat, too! Surrendered from Lizabeth Scott's custody; seized as an illegal asset from her convicted boyfriend's ill-gotten gains . . .
