2018 KLR650 is still available from dealers in Canada

I see Kawasaki dealers in my area advertising new 2018 KLR650s.
It's still on Kawasaki's Canadian and US websites as well.
Good to see!

I'd really like to see the back cover of their Owners Manuals for the actual model numbers.
For the 2006 model year and beyond, Kawasaki altered their model designation to allow up to Three production runs of any given year model.

So as I understood/understand it, they might could have produced some 2018 models late last year! Unchanged in any manner, paint choices included, was my understanding.

First 2018 production run model number was KL650EJF. (The "E" is the generation) (The "J" is 2018) (The last alpha "F" stands for FIRST production run)
Second 2018 production run model number was KL650EJS. (The last alpha "S" stands for SECOND)
A Third and Final possible 2018 production run would be model number KL650EJT. (The last alpha "T" standing for THIRD)

They have made one production run of the 2018 KL650EJFA. (The last alpha standing for "Alternate". Usually special paint) In this case "Digital Camo".

How friendly is your local dealer, terry_g?

One can go to a parts site like Babbits to see the actual model numbers & look at the back cover of your owners manual to help get correct parts. (What year did they last change the clutch?)

I know of three 2018 KLR's for sale at the dealerships in the Edmonton area. Two are the camo models priced at $7200 and $7000 and a black at $6900. Plus tax and dealer prep and who knows what else. They make a big deal that these bikes have been discounted $500. They have already lost more than that due to depreciation One dealership has been advertising the camo model for the past year. Since Kawasaki discontinued the KLR I think the demand and interest has gone down considerably. Add to that the many options available from other manufacturers people are just going to different, more modern bikes. Without a significant price cut I see those KLR's sitting there for quite some time yet. It will probably come down to Kawasaki offering some dealer incentive to clear them off the floor. If they were priced at $5000 I would grab a new one but at $7000 I'll save my bottles and buy something else.

99912-0169-02 seems to be the last issued parts catalogue.I can't find subsequent numbers.
It contains the '18 models EJF / EJFA / EJS

mrmotorcycles.co.nz/resources/products/21052-44.1501/kl650ejf-ejfa-parts-catalogue.pdf

The highest VIN I have come across so far is 98365.

I just looked at my 2018 vin#
JKAKLEE15JDA95188 Where does one find the run #
I bought it in Arizona last fall. I paid, I think, $6,692.19 out the door. They wouldn't even drop the 19 cents.

I thought the 9th digit of the vin was the year but yours would indicate it being a 2015. Is this the vin number from the steering column or the engine number from near the starter?

The back cover of the Owner Handbook has the FULL Complete model number.
The Original Invoice from the Dealerships should have had the complete model number, but too many of them are too lazy also!

I have no idea why it is NOT on the bikes Information Sticker on the frame, only a partial like KL650E.

The Tenth character of the VIN is the year or year code, on a 30 year rotation. Same as on automobiles.
1996 = T
1997 = V
1998 = W
1999 = X
2000 = Y
2001 = 1
2002 = 2
2003 = 3
2004 = 4
2005 = 5

2009 = 9
2010 = A
2011 = B
2012 = C
2013 = D
2014 = E
2015 = F
2016 = G
2017 = H
2018 = J
2019 = K
2020 = L
2021 = M
2022 = N
2023 = P
2024 = R
2025 = S
2026 = T
2027 = V
2028 = W
2029 = X
2030 = Y
2031 = 1 and the sequence will repeat all over again. I / O / Q / U / Z are never used.

Are you possibly missing an "E" in that? KL650EJFL?

KL650 / 'E series' / 'J 2018' / 'F first production run' / 'L California model, with square black charcoal can on LH rear side'.

Our local Kawi dealer still has a couple of '18s left, a black one, and a yellow/black one - they are asking $7K Cdn for 'em. Using an online currency converter, that converts to about $5,360 USD.
