Olympics

Are you a fan of the Winter or Summer games?

I guess I'm a heartless bastard, because I don't give 2 flips about them. I thought maybe it was because I don't know anyone in them, or nobody's local to cheer for, but I could care less for Indy racing, and Danica Patrick has walked past my house numerous times during her high school years...

With the winter Olympics coming up, the only part of the games that I'm interested in won't be televised anyway.. I'd love to watch the ski/rifle Alpine matches.. I can't imagine shooting for utmost accuracy after dropping the ski poles, heart pumping and breathing hard.. That, I'd watch, but instead they'll toss figure skating down our throats..

I guess I'm the heartless bastard I think I am..

Isn't Danica racing Nascar this year?? Great, more theatrics to professional wrestling on blacktop..

The winter olympics for me. I ski, and play hockey, and I am a huge fan of the San Jose Sharks. The best sport in the olympics is women's hockey. It is the way it should be... Amatures... I will not watch the mens hockey, if I wanted to see that I would watch the allstar game. I don't believe the olympics are for paid professionals.

And that's my two cents

I don't have that male sports-gene. Hope that doesn't mean I'm gay.
I love tools and tinkering so I'm probably a manly man. But sports???? Yawn.
Or if I'm bi, just haven't gotten around to trying it in 43 years so it's not excactly on my bucket list. LOL
(Wimmin' rock, anyway.)

Did football season start yet?
Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeap

ALTHOUGH, I'd pick the winter games if'n I had to choose. Bobsledding looks like one helluva rush!

I enjoy most sports that are not violent, sorry Mark.

Olympic short course speed skating is a gas. They friggin haul ***.

Biathlon is awsome. I have done summer biathlon at Donner Pass, 8,500 ft. Breathing razor blades! I could reduce my heart rate from 160 to 40 in less than 30 seconds and you have to do that twice or three times with a run in between.

Cross Country skiing is an art.

Long course speed skating, you bet!

Womens, mens, and couples skating is beautiful.

There are so many of the sports that are good to watch.

Do yourself a favor and watch something you don't care for and try to see it from their viewpoint. Expand your horizons. I watch hockey and could care less if it was a sport or not. These are humans participating and, on the whole, I beleive in humans. Humans first.

Danica should be racing this next weekend through the next weekend. I believe she is going to race ARCA, Nationwide, with the possibility of Sprint Cup. I really doubt Sprint Cup because it is a very difficult car to drive. Danica is smarter than most give her credit for. She understands marketing and she happens to share a sponsor with Hendrick's Motorsports / Jr Motorsports.

Hockey is not violent. They just run into each others fist.

Speed skatimg I have done. It is a blast. When I was younger I did do professional skating. (Ice comedy) That was a blast until I snapped both ankles. So yes figure skating is another sport that is worth watching too, but again... as long as they are amatures.

Credit where it's due. I know these people work their butts off hours on end every day, day in and day out for a shot at the Olympics. I can and do appreciate the skill and grace ANY specialty takes whether nailing a puck or perfectly blown glass, or anything in between. I just don't watch or follow sports. Watching a bear on Discovery deftly pluck a berry w/out damaging the branch is cool too. There is a fluidity and grace to figure and speed skating both. None of this has been lost on me.
Just not my choice to watch more than a few minutes here and there.

We're all on the same page but have slightly different levels of enthusiasm is all.

Well Paper, if you think you are a heartless bastard, then I'd hate to think what I am. I'm not even going to write what I think of professional sports, racing and Olympics. It would probably piss everyone off and start a flame war like no one has ever seen.

Downhill is the best, but on TV they only show one or two favorites, several Americans and then a bunch of announcers announcing. I'd rather watch all of the competitors.

Ski Jumping is cool, same issues about announcers. The snowboard guys are fun to watch. Some of the rest of the sports are OK for a few minutes at a time.

Figure skating gets old quickly, although the guys who can twirl around with a girl over their heads in one hand are probably the strongest athletes of any in the world.

I'm pretty much with Cheap on this one. They are very talented. I get that. I used to ski a lot and if I see the downhill in a bar, fine. But I have little or no attention span when it comes to watching sports. Playing? That I like better. Watching live is a little better, but on TV? With all those special bio clips? When I could be doing....

The true irony here is that I used to be a sportswriter and I cared just as much then.

On second thought, I'd rather go riding.
