Why Stay There So Long?

I have been away since New Years and just came home. These are a couple pictures I took during my stay at the cabin. This place is in the Alaskan Interior (no roads, no nothing) and we access by snow machine or Bush plane this time of year. I go there to work on the building and to wander the Bush. Yes there are wolves there.

This is the first year I have had an electric light! Generator - battery - inverter system.

This is the setting moon as seen from the table while drinking that first cup of coffee;

Not a screw up, this is what the lighting produces just before sunrise, cool;

When you snow shoe about a half mile out the back door you break onto the swamp. From here you can walk forever;

Lastly, this is a summertime shot so you can see the depth of snow. The building is on 4' pilings. Generally the snow is half way up the side windows but this has been a dry winter so far.

Cool pics hardy!!! I've been wanting in the worst way to make a trip to Alaska either to Caribou hunt or a summer m/c trip. One of these days!

I understand the Bush Plane/ snow machine this time of year... are there roads in the summer?

Oh, and if you fly me up there for a week I'll chop wood, cook, Build/Repair (25+ yrs const.) for 5 of those day.

If I had a place like that I would not come back. But one road would be nice to ride my Hayabusa on. My retirement present to myself will be Alaska on the KLR.

Hi fellas,

No there are no roads that lead there except the ice roads that the rivers form in winter. I am going to ride my KLR there this March. The snow machine trails get really hard in the spring and I have been fantasizing a ride for years. Four years ago I drove a Suzuki 700cc King quad there and the trails held it so the KLR will be a shoo in.

I will post lots of pictures and a trip report when I come back.
