LOTS of FUN to ride. Would wheeliee in any gear with a twist of the wrist.

Rode it off a cliff in Gunnison National Forest and that ended my "Must Go Faster in the Dirt" days. I was dead for ~ three minutes on that crash. Lucky for me my riding buddy knew CPR and was able to get down the cliff to save me.
Nice bike! I rode a 1973 Maico 400 in a AHRMA event for a buddy who registered but could not ride, I normally ride a 1973 KTM Penton 250. I've also rode a CZ 400 Twin pipe (not raced though).
You guys talking about left hand kick on a large 2-stroke, I know exactly how you feel. I rode an '83 KTM 495 for quite some time, always dredded having to kick that darn thing, My foot slipped off once trying to kick it and I took it directly in the shin.
Now as for a big two-stroke, I do know that Rotax made an 800cc+ engine for a snowmobile at one time, pull-start by the way and I believe it was a 3cyl but could have been 4cyl (has been about 15yrs now). I don't know the details on what it was out of but we had it laying around in our shop for awhile with every intentions on putting it in a hillclimb bike, needless to say we never got around to it.

Single cylinder wise, I think Maico made a big single. I think kicking anything bigger than a 750 might be more than most mere mortals could handle. The 490 was a bugger sometimes.

I had a Suzuki Titan 500 (2 stroke twin) that I rode like a dual purpose and it was excellent on fire roads and good on moderate trails. If Suzuki had offered it with high pipes, knobbies and a bash plate it could have been outstanding off road.

Hmmm. I've never thought of dual sporting mine. Maybe I could custom make some stingers, set them higher and it could work. Lol

Would you believe the Maico 760? It's the largest I can find.

Nice Titan!
My friend rode his Titan with me on my XL250 on some steep rocky trails and he was slow, but that big two stoke pulled like a tractor. I didn't take mine because it had an extended front end and couldn't make the tight turns.

It wasn't in a production motorcycle, but the largest 2 strokes I ever saw was the old V16 Series 7 Detroit Diesels. it was something 1136 cu in (71 cu in per cylinder x 16 = 1136). They were blown and supercharged (both on the same engine)

I believe I remember seeing / conferring about a 760cc, single cylinder two stroke engine at the Billings MT hillclimb about 10-15 years ago. The engine was made in Austria as I remember, but not by 'Rotax'!
Was used in home country for side-car duty, primarily!
