I can not tell a lie.. It was on the bike when I bought it.. I don't have anything to reference, and I've only riden one V Strom, and I own that one..

The original owner said it made a huge difference over stock (remember, mine's a 1000 AND a California model) as the stock mapping had a nasty stumble on the low end. I have no stumble.. It pulls off of idle..

You don't HAVE to go to a PC III. Visit the Midwest forum at Strom Troopers and check out the post on the Slimey Crud Run. DavidLSI had his bike tweaked while I stood there, by another user. I can't remember her name, but she plugged in and raised his mapping 1 digit on the first three spots. (Or so I was told) He's very happy with the outcome!!

My PC III has their mapping for a stock bike with stock exhaust, and I've never changed it, so I can't tell you what to even look for..

I bought the bags from a guy on the parts for sale on KLR650.net. He had them mounted on his KLR, and sold the bike. I can't recall his name, though..
I bought the mounts, Givi screen, and engine guards from http://www.sporttour.com/VStrom.htm
Very nice people who answered all my email questions..

When I bought my wee it had

Center stand
Bar weights
After market windshield
Pelican side cases
Top box
Lowered 3/4 in
Moto tech engine guards
Fog lights
BMW plug
fuse block

Now that it's mine;

Gel seat
Hwy pegs
KLR handle bars, (powder coated)
12V battery tender plug
GPS mount made from bicycle parts

The fuse block is gone, I am making another with a wiring harness to feed a 12V cig lighter, and the battery tender plugs.
The fog lights won't be there long
Will go back to stock links
The pelicans will be replaced with something that looks better. ( they may wind up on the KLR
I'm working on a screen to protect the oil cooler and filter
