Talking I just picked up a Honda Shadow VT500 1984

It runs, but needs a lot of work. Brakes, electrical issues, and an engine knock. Could use some new shoes also. However, I picked it up for $200.00, so I feel it will be fun to play with.

Anyway, I'm keeping the KLR (of course). Anybody know of a forum that might get me hints and such for a 1984 VT500?

Yeah, I'm looking for a project bike to give me yet something else to do. Something like an old Kawasaki H1.

Kawasaki H1 would be nice but hard to find. Everyone is looking for those.

My project is building one Goldwing from two. Was given a stripped down 79 that had the bags and stuff which I didn't really want. I then found a 75 that needed an engine so the 79 is going to be the engine donor for the 75. 1975 was the first year for the Goldwing. Love the spoke wheels.

My Kaw Barn - 2004 KLR, 2006 Concours (sold), 1997 Bayou 400.

The Goldwing sounds like a great project. I know a guy who has 279,xxx miles on his 1800 Goldwing. Pretty impressive.

Not too sure about forums for the VT500 but I'm thinking that you could also search for VT500 Ascot info, I had an 84 Ascot and from what I read it was pretty much identical to the Shadow other than it was a little more high strung... And the styling of course . The Ascot's were a lot more popular on the other side of the pond than here I think. Wish I had hung onto it as it had a completely rebuilt engine in it (by a Honda dealer), then the PO plowed it into the back of a car and bent the triples, fork tubes, and front disc... Oh, and the front wheel! I bought it with the intention of grafting some used parts on it and making kind of a ratbike... Never got around to it though, bummer!
