BMW R1550R

Hey, I was what I'm pretty sure was a BMW R1550R in the parking lot a couple weeks ago and I thought it was really cool
I found it on the BMW webpage that day, however today I went to find it and it was not there?
Does anyone know if the stopped making it or maybe I just am crappy at the internet.

Thanks,
Brian

Well It looks like they don't have the 1150 anymore but the new R1200R looks kinda cool. I still like the looks of the 1150 though.

Anybody have one? I'm thinking it would be a lot of fun.

I had a R1100R.. Does that count?? I slapped 30,000 miles on it and sold it to a guy at work who totalled it in less than 3 months.

Here's me at the Shannonville Motorsports Park in Ontario during a track day..

And here's the bike in my normal touring trim, ready for a loop around Lake Superior..

And here's the former Pope.. (sorry, I just love the picture)

ya know I thought I had a pope picture.

I don't but I think the Pope and my friend Lucas shop for hats at the same place

Paper,

That was a sweet looking rig. With that fairing it reminds me a bit like my GSX.
I never thought of putting hand guards on, but that's a good idea.

Are you wearing textile gear (and jeans) in that track day picture? They would not let me wear textile at Jennings.
Do you realize how many cows I would have to kill to make up a full race leather set for me, I just could not do it. :as0005

The hand guards were for a BMW GS, so they mounted right up. They were big enough to really help, and they didn't affect the looks of the bike enough for me to want to take them off..

The track day was sponsored by BMW during the Internation BMW rally. The track was 20 minutes from the rally site, and they eased up on the clothing rules for the track day because we had lead riders for each group. We still were able to fly at some great speeds, but the lead rider kept corner speeds down a bit because of the skill variations of the riders in the group. I ended up pushing the lead rider around quite a bit, but we still were allowed some fun speeds.. I bumped my rev limiter about 4-5 times every lap, and I saw an actual 138mph on my gps top speed..

You BMW guys get all the perks.

If my GSX does not sell soon I may put some guards on it for winter. It gets mighty cold here in the winter ya know.

WOW!!! 138. That's the fastest I ever got GSX up to per the GPS. Pretty good for a twin.
