klr 250 rear sprocket change

Hey everyone ive been riding my klr 250 around for a little while now. ive racked up about 1000 miles in the past month or so. I usually use it for trips on roads that are mostly flat and the speed limit is about 45-50 and on my 1992 the rpm's are around 6000+ when im riding. Im considering a rear sprocket change to help the engine slow down a little bit. Just wondering if anybody had any experience with playing around with sprocket sizes.

Try one tooth bigger on the front if there's room. It's cheaper than rear. Ride Safe

As your age increases, so does the size of your rear sprocket.

Just read this the other day, thought it was funny. It is somewhat related to this thread.
