Columbia Gorge next summer (2010)

I'm planning my vacation next year around riding the Columbia River Gorge area. Coming up from Socal. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

If you intend to ride much of 84 thru the gorge I'd recommend about 200lbs of lead weights attached to your bike or else you may get blown from one lane to another If you really want to ride some nice pavement I'd highly suggest getting off of 84 at Biggs Junction and head south towards Spray. Some of the best motorcycle roads in the state are in that area.

I live right at the beginning of the Gorge and go riding in and around it to get out of my apartment! Your best bet might be to camp or get a motel and do a couple of day trips. Someone mentioned Windy Ridge which is Mt. Saint Helens, just cross over The Bridge of the Gods and take the back roads....nice ride...that takes a day. You wouldn`t want to miss a cruise up the Clackamas River on Rt 224 out of Estacada and out near Timothy Lake near Mt. Hood. After a couple of day trips you could head out towards the Spray area where RT mentioned. I was in that area couple of weeks ago near Fossil....beautiful day got some nice pics. If anyone plans a trip let me know if I can help out. I got a garage and a mc jack for maintenance if anyone needs it
