Dirt Vader 94 KLR650

Hi, folks.
Thought I would up date what has been done to the KLR.

First the plastic's have been rhino lined (or LineX). Bike has been called the Mad Max, Darth Vader...etc. Had a lot of folks want to do it to there's.

Has most of the KLR mod's minus a couple. Carb mod, and exhaust.
I went with the front prelli 21mt tire and the D606 rear...90% dirt and 10% street.
Headlight gaurd (grill) and a flashing rear LED tail light.
It has a 16 front gear and a 45 rear. Kind of like runinng a 15 and 43 without the buzz at the high end.
Has the elc. fan mod added for trail riding at lower speeds. I've done this mod to most of my bikes threw out the years...works really well.

Added the tool tube in the front for tire irons, tool's, and front and rear tubes.
Has a on board air pump.
Have a rifle case that mounts on the right side of the bike (not shown).

Other than I don't run hard bads, but I do have soft bags.

Kurt

I picked them up at a bike shop. They are for a street bike, but they work real well on the KLR (even with Rhino liner).

I painted my plastic with the Krylon spray paint everyone suggested, but the paint isn't sticking well at all. I was just considering having it rhino'd...Can you tell me whether you did it yourself or had someone else do it for you?

They where done at a shop.
I strip everything off the bike and did a sanding on all the plastic's. This will help the rhino liner stick better. Also if you have any cracks in the plastic's pull them together real tight and mask tape them together. The rhino lining will cover them up and no more cracks.

Its pretty tuff stuff.........good luck!

BTW: it cost me about 80.00 to have it done. Looks better than the stuff you paint on with a brush in a can.

Thanks for the info, and for the price.
I had thought of doing it myself, but after reading several posts, I think I'll have it done professionally.

Thanks again.

Thanks , the plastic's where really faded. Instead of getting new ones i thought this might work...was not looking for pretty, just durable.
